Types of cold water pipe materials

• Cast iron pipe ( C.L ) - strong but brittle . Usually offer long service life . 
• Mild steel pipe ( M.S) - strong and can be produced to various length . Widely Used . 
• High Density Polyethylene pipe (HDPE ) - Flexible and good corrosion resistance . 
• Unplasticised Polyvinyl Chloride pipe ( UPVC ) - Semi rigid . Easy to cut and joint . 
• Glassfibre Reinforced Plastics pipe ( GRP ) - Easily deformed . Not widely used . 
• Stainless Steel pipe ( S.S) - Strong and good corrosion resistance . Suitable for underground pipe . 
• Acrylonitrile BUtadiene Styrene (ABS) - Strong and has excellent resistance to breaking , scratching , chipping and wear .
