Travel Distance

  • Travel distance is the running distance of an occupant in the unprotected area towards the safe place. 
  • "Limit of travel distance " is the maximum travel distance in the unprotected areas to a place of safety in the fire escape route .
  • Refer to UBBL 1984 7th Schedule . 
Example 2
E2-2 . Determine the travel distance ( for fire escape ) for the floor plan shown at the sketch below . Subsequently comment whether it is comply with the requirement in UBBL under the different usage of building as follow :

A) If the building used as shops
Travel distance limit is 30m , 33.29m 
not comply UBBL

B) If the building used as office
Teavel distance limit is 45 . 33.29m
comply with UBBL
