  • Water converts to steam easier in droplets form . 
  • Wetting combustible materials is a method often employed to prevent the ignition of unburned material . 
  • Amount of water required depends on the temperature of fire . 
  • How fast the fire is extinguished depends on how soon water is applied on the fire . 
  • Water is usually not effective for gaseous and flammable liquids that have flash point below the temperature of applied water .
