2.1 Fire Protection and Prevention Objectives

  • The objectives of fire protection and prevention are to provide the needed protection against fire for the occupants adn properties inside and surrounding buildings . 
  • Life safety : Reduce the potential for injury or death ( protect occupant from smoke. )
  • Life safety : Reduce the potential for injury or death ( protect occupant from smoke ) 
  • Property safety : Reduce the potential for damage to building fabric and contents ( keeping the heat away from building ) 
  • Ensure that as much as possible of the building : 
  • -Can continue to function after fire
  • -Can be repaired 
  • Remain safe for fire fighting operation and consider the adjoining properties
